How’s this for an almighty RWD drag race?!
We’ve got Mat in a Porsche Carrera GT, and he’s lining up a prototype of a TWR Supercar! The question is, which will come out on top over the quarter-mile? Let’s take a closer look…
Starting with the Porsche, it’s powered by a 5.7-litre naturally-aspirated V1- that delivers 612hp and 590Nm. This power is sent to the rear wheels only via a 6-speed manual gearbox, and the car weighs in at 1,380kg. When it was first released, it cost around £330,000, but as of today, it’s valued at about £2,000,000!
Then we come to the TWR. It’s powered by a 5.6-litre supercharged V12, and this produces 660hp and 730Nm. This power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual, and the car weighs in at 1,605kg - although they’re targeting 1,250kg for the final production car!
But that’s not all! The TWR will also be going up against another RWD beast - a tuned Dodge Viper ACR! It’s powered by an 8.4-litre naturally aspirated V10 that usually produces 608hp and 760Nm. However, this version has been tuned, and it now produces 650hp and 800Nm! This power is sent to the rear wheels only via a 6-speed manual.
So how will this one play out - will it be a walkover for the TWR? Or will it be a walkover for the Carrera GT and Viper? There’s only one way to find out for sure… LET’S RACE!
