It’s the third generation of Audi’s flagship 7-seater, but the question is, does it have what it takes to compete with class-leading competitors like the BMW X7 and Mercedes GLS? Let’s take a closer look…
Starting with the design, the new Q7 has more road presence than the previous iteration. The car is slightly wider and taller than before, and up front you’ll find a wider, larger grille which is flanked on either side by Audi’s new stacked headlight design. There’s also a set of DRLs that can display a choice of different patterns within them. Along the side, the alloy sizes range from 20” to 23”, and the car here has black surrounds on the windows and black roof bars. Around the back, you’ll find a set of OLED tail lights, and amazingly, a pair of real exhaust pipes - no fakery here!
Step inside and you’ll find a pretty luxurious interior, with the cabin of the Q7 dominated by a whole lot of screen action. The digital dials and infotainment screen are housed in the same curved design that stretches across the majority of the dash, while there’s also a separate passenger screen that comes as standard. Pretty much any surface on the inside is fitted with soft-touch materials, and the seats we have here are fitted with wool-effect material, which is lovely to touch. The seats also available with heated and cooled functionality.
The Q7 we have here is fitted with a 3-litre V6 diesel engine that produces 299hp and 630Nm of torque. This power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. It’s also fitted with mild-hybrid tech, and petrol and plug-in hybrid models will also be available.
The entry-level Q7 starts from £81,665, with the range-topping model (as we have in this video) starting from £101,655. So is it worth it? And more importantly, would you choose it over a BMW X7? Let us know in the comments!
