ICANN擬強迫網址註冊人公開個資！隱私保護組織發動「拯救域名隱私」連署活動

過去網址註冊人可透過代理註冊服務來保護自己的隱私，以避免個人資料因此透過WHOIS而曝露於公開的網際網路上。但全球網域名稱管理機構ICANN（International Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers）近期即將討論一項新的政策，未來可能會禁止這些代理註冊服務，強迫所有的網址註冊人的個人資料都必需公開。

美國電子前線基金會（Electronic Frontier Foundation，EFF）、專門捍衛網路自由的Fight for the Future，以及網域名稱註冊服務暨網站代管業者Namecheap最近發動了「拯救域名隱私」（Save Domain Privacy）活動，號召使用者反對ICANN這項強迫曝露網域名稱所有人真實身份與資料的新政策。

一般而言，任何人都可透過WHOIS查詢網域名稱註冊資訊，ICANN也要求網域名稱所有人或管理人必須於WHOIS中揭露地址、e-mail，與電話號碼等詳細而真實的聯絡資料，由於這可能變成垃圾蟲、行銷人員，或惡意人士蒐集個資的管道，因此有不少網域名稱註冊服務供應商順便提供了代理註冊服務以保障網域名稱註冊人的隱私。

Namecheap指出，支持此一新政策的成員與支持「終止網路盜版法案」（Stop Online Piracy Act，SOPA）的成員差不多，而且所謂的「商業行為」牽連太廣，估計大部份的網站都會受到影響，網域名稱註冊服務商將被迫公布用戶的聯絡資訊，代表每個人都可以不經標準程序、只要取得電話或郵件就能直接向網站所有人抱怨網站上的種種服務或內容，也令人難以理解為什麼只為了擁有一個網站就必須要曝露自己家的住址。
